The article presents the results of research related to the development of consulting as a non-traditional banking service. For convenience, the banks were divided into groups of public and private banks; domestic and foreign banks. It was found that public banks, like private ones, are equally trying to provide consulting services. Banks with foreign capital, in contrast to domestic, provide a wider range of consulting services. Domestic banks are mainly focused on consulting in the field of financial investment. Banks with foreign capital also distribute their activities in the real investment sector. Due to the global development trends, a number of recommendations were developed. They concerned the development of consulting services both in the banking sector as a whole, and at the level of each bank in particular. The recommendations concern changes in the strategy of banks, their participation in the development of the market of consulting services at the level with other organizations operating in the consulting market, the introduction of a two-level system of consulting services in the bank, the launch of training consulting by banks. These measures will promote expansion of the client base of banks, development of financial literacy of individual clients, improvement of quality of credit portfolio of banks and strengthening of relations between clients and banks.
