The socio-economic significance of the funded pension fund in the world was studied by identifying key indicators, namely the total amount of pension assets, the ratio of total pension assets and GDP, the ratio of the number of active participants in pension funds and working-age population, the structure of the investment portfolio of funded pension funds. The specificity of population coverage with funded pensions has been revealed. The key problems of the functioning of funded pension funds in foreign countries are formulated. A set of measures to enhance the development of funded pension funds in Ukraine was proposed. They are: the introduction of a mandatory level of a funded pension system, permission to set up pension schemes with defined payments, creation of new tools for investing pension savings, providing additional guarantees for paying pensions, improving financial literacy of the population.
