THE ROLE OF BANKING ACTIVITY IN THE SOCIO-ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OF THE COUNTRY

Annotation:

The research defines the importance of banking activities both for social and economic development of Ukraine which predetermines the corresponding growth of all other branches of the country industry. The article focuses on the interpretation of the term «banking activity» both by the classical economics scholars and by modern native and foreign ones. It is defined that the term «banking activity» is considered both from the standpoint of law and banking theory. The existence of multifaceted approaches to the interpretation of the notion under analysis is revealed which differ depending on whether macroeconomic or microeconomic approach is applied. We suppose that such variety of interpretations in determining the boundaries of the term under discussion is crucial. The existence of specific banking activity features which distinguish it from other types of economic activities is emphisised. The article also concentrates on the existing international theoretical principles on which the banking activity is based. The tendencies of banks interaction with sectors of the country economy and the state policy are specified, i.e. with the state fiscal, price, and foreign-economic policy.
